Working together to support your child’s care
At Alder Hey, your child’s care and your experience are very important to us. We want to make sure you receive the right care, at the right time, in the right place, and from the right team.
We understand that families may need to attend more than once, and this can happen for many different reasons. While you are waiting to be seen, you may find it helpful to think about any questions you’d like to ask. This can support our team in guiding you to the most appropriate healthcare setting in the future and help us understand any additional support you may need today.
In the Emergency Department, we are always here to provide assessment, treatment and support. We understand that families have a choice about where to seek care.
Sometimes, another service may be better placed to meet your child’s needs, such as your GP, WalkâIn Centre, Pharmacy, or trusted online resources like the NHS symptom checker for minor illness or minor injury. If this is the case, our team can help guide you to the most appropriate service.
It is important that if your child has symptoms that are worrying or may require emergency care, you attend your nearest Emergency Department without delay.
Below are links to information on common childhood illnesses, including what to look out for, selfâcare advice, and when to seek emergency medical attention if needed.
Many thanks
Alder Hey ED Team
