Dr Das trained as a Paediatric Endocrinologist at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, Manchester following her training as a junior doctor at the Hammersmith Hospital London.

Areas of interest within Endocrinology:

Paediatric Endocrine Gynaecology:
Management of adolescent girls presenting with delayed puberty, delayed onset of menstruation  secondary amenorrhoea related to hormonal imbalance, Polycystic ovarian syndrome presenting in adolescent girls. Using hormone treatment to regulate periods in girls with learning difficulties.
Induction of puberty in premature ovarian failure and girls with Turner’s syndrome
Children born with disorders or variation in sexual differentiation – Ambiguous genitalia
Management of children with a diagnosis of Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia
Children presenting with delayed or early puberty ( male and female)
Managing hormonal problem related to late effects of cancer treatment
Managing Children and Young persons with disorders of growth
Thyroid problems: Hypothyroidism and Hyperthyroidism
Since 2016 Dr Das has included medical management in her portfolio and is currently the Director of Medicine.

Dr Das is able to speak the following languages fluently: 

English, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Sylethi

Dr Senthil Senniappan

Dr Senthil Senniappan

Dr Senthil Senniappan has been working as Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool for 8 years. He is the Clinical Director for Endocrinology and an honorary Associate Professor at University of Liverpool. 

He trained as endocrinologist in Manchester and London. He completed PhD at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. He has published more than 60 peer reviewed PubMed index articles including publications in NEJM and Human Molecular Genetics and several book chapters. He leads several research projects and supervises research students. His areas of interest within endocrinology include congenital hyperinsulinism, hypoglycaemia, DSD, andrology and childhood obesity. He has won several awards and he is passionate about teaching/training.  He is the quality advisor for endocrinology CSAC at RCPCH and a regular MRCPCH Examiner. He is the POC chair for BSPED and secretary of the ESPE clinical fellowship committee. 

Dr Senniappan is the Clinical Lead for complex obesity MDT service (ALDER CEW) and co-lead for NSHE Commissioned Quaternary congenital hyperinsulinism (CHI) service. Dr Senniappan provides ongoing clinical care to children and young people with complex obesity and associated complications including sleep apnoea, fatty liver, diabetes mellitus and intracranial hypertension. He is supported by a team of dedicated multidisciplinary professionals including dieticians, psychologists, physician associate, fellows, physiotherapists, key worker and specialist nurses. 

Dr Senniappan leads the clinical research in the area of congenital hyperinsulinism and childhood obesity and has established links with the various services/researchers in the city through the Liverpool Obesity Research Network (LORN). 

Dr Renuka Ramakrishnan MD, MRCP

Dr Renuka Ramakrishnan MD, MRCP

Renuka is a Consultant in the Paediatric Endocrinology here at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. She is the Lead for the Metabolic bone service and is also an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Liverpool. As the Lead for Metabolic Bone Service, she has expertise in managing all aspects of bone disorders, including complex and ultra- rare conditions. Renuka is a Member of the British Paediatric and Adolescent Bone Group. She is experienced in managing all general Endocrine disorders and is also the Governance Lead for Endocrinology at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Renuka is the Educational Supervisort for undergraduates and specialty trainees.
