The Alder Centre Annual Remembrance Candle Service

Each year the Alder Centre holds this non-denominational service of remembrance at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral. It is a time when together we remember and honour your children.
During the Candle Service there are readings, songs and many candles are lit. It is a service of reflection and hope. Children’s names registered with The Alder Centre are displayed on screen by surname in alphabetical order at various points throughout the service, including in the online streaming of the service on YouTube. Message leaves are added to our memory tree to be taken and displayed at The Alder Centre.
The service is free and for anyone affected by the death of a child, however recently or long ago whatever their age, from pre-birth to adult children, all are welcome.
Register a Child’s Name
If you wish to register your child’s name to be remembered during the Candle Service, please complete our online form:
Register your child’s nameChildren’s names previously registered with The Alder Centre will be displayed – there is no need to re-register.
Please do let us know if you do not wish your child’s name to be shown during the service.
Please register names by 5th December.
Message Leaves
There will be an opportunity to write a message leaf on the night, but, if you would like to send a message in advance for our volunteers to hand write for you then please do so via this link.
Each leaf will then be placed on The Alder Centre tree during the service. The tree and leaves are then displayed in The Alder Centre all year round.
