Training Courses at The Alder Centre
The Alder Centre has a long history of providing high quality, well evaluated training courses around the subject of child death. We provide training in our building and offer bespoke short courses off site to suit different groups and organisations.
Our training is primarily participatory, incorporating tutor-led theoretical input and student-led discussion and group work. Whilst it is expected that students will be educated to a sufficient standard to understand the course content, the courses are predominantly skills-based rather than academic. Training is delivered by qualified and experienced trainers who are working in the subject area and are therefore able to draw on their experience to enhance the theoretical input and student understanding.
In recent years we have provided half day and one day training to various groups and organisations, including:
- Health care staff at Leighton and Ormskirk Hospitals
- Liverpool Coroner’s Office
- Cheshire Child Death Overview Panel
- Organ donation nurses
- Kinship carers
- Social prescribers
- North Wales paediatric oncology nurses
- Zoe’s Place baby hospice
- Bereaved dads working with Liverpool Women’s Hospital and Liverpool FC
