At The Alder Centre we have child bereaved volunteers, counsellors, complementary therapists and administration coordinators providing drop in and group support for anyone affected by the death of a child of any age.

Daily Open-Door

Access 9am – 4.30pm Space to take time out, sit and reflect supported by our team.

Cake ‘n’ Cuppa

Every Wednesday from 11am to1.30pm at the Alder Centre. For anyone affected by the death of a child. Drop in for a piece of home made cake and a cuppa, supported by our bereaved parent volunteers in our purpose built beautiful Alder Centre.

Alder’s Hidden Gems

Every Tuesday from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at the Alder Centre (during term time). Alder’s Gems is a collaboration between wellness artist Gemma Longworth and The Alder Centre. Alder’s Hidden Gems is a creative bereavement support group for children and young people who have been affected by the death of a child. It is a fun weekly get together offering a range of creative activities and workshops tailored to the children and their interests including; visual arts, crafts, music, dance, gardening, fashion and upcycling. All sessions will be aimed at children and young people between the ages of 6 and 16. Contact Gemma on [email protected]

ADAM

A Dad’s And Men’s group for those affected by the death of a child. Meeting at the Alder Centre the 4th Monday of every month from 6.30pm, it’s a safe space for bereaved men to come together.

SAVE

Support for anyone Affected by Violent Events. This is a monthly group to support parents and is hosted at the Alder Centre every 3rd Thursday of the month at 6pm.

Drop in for lunch

From 1pm to 2.30pm each Thursday.

Come join us for lunch, drop in and enjoy our home made food or bring your own.

For anyone affected by a death of a child, a relaxed and safe space supported by bereaved parent volunteer.

Wellbeing days

Wellbeing day, September 20th 2025 from 9.30am to 4.30pm at The Alder Centre. An opportunity for self-care and wellbeing for anyone affected by a death of a child.

A variety of activities where you can join in, have fun, meet other people and learn some new things. Refreshments and lunch included with plenty of time to socialise or chat with like-minded people. Please wear comfortable clothing.

Pilates After Baby Loss

What are the classes? – Reconnect with your pelvic floor. Restore your core. Recover physically postpartum. One hour classes followed by refreshments and time for peer supprot.

Who can attend? – Bereaved mums following stillbirth or infant loss within the last 12 months. More information.
