The current car park for visitors to Alder Hey’s Emergency Department will be closed from Friday 5th December 2025.
A new temporary car park will be opened to replace it whilst we build a new Emergency Car Park.
You can access the new car park by turning right immediately after you approach the Emergency Department entrance off Eaton Road.

ED Drop-Off Zone
A dedicated Drop-Off Area for quick access to the Emergency Department has been established on the Blue Light Route.

Please note
This is a drop-off zone only. To ensure continuous access for other families and emergency vehicles, parking or waiting in this area is strictly prohibited.

Why is the Car Park Closing?
We apologise for any inconvenience. This closure of the car park is essential to allow us to complete building work for our new Surgical Neonatal ICU and the enhanced Emergency Services building, as well as a new permanent Emergency Department Car Park, scheduled for completion in Spring 2026.
Important Note for Weekend Visitors
The temporary car park will be physically blocked off starting Monday 8th December 2025, to prevent unauthorised access.
If you visit the Emergency Department over the weekend and your vehicle remains in the temporary car park, a contact number will be placed on your windscreen. Please call this number to arrange for your vehicle’s release.
