We are delighted to announce that the Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) in Springfield Park is now open.
The MUGA is free to use for all in the community to enjoy and is floodlit, which means it can be used from 9am till 10pm each day.
It can be used in practically all weather and hosts a full size basketball and netball court together with markings, as well as a five-as-side football goals.
Alongside this, there is a brand new outdoor park gym equipment area and trim trail for all to use and enjoy. The gym area includes:
- A multi-fitness station with several exercise functions
- A Lat Pull and Chest Press Combo outdoor workout station
- A two-person station with both a seated or standing platform allowing for a 90 degree twisting action for building core strength
- A pull up area, which has both a lower and higher bar
- A Trinity Cycle 3 in 1 recumbent bike.
A trim trail area with more park exercise equipment sits alongside the park gym area.

“It is amazing to see the MUGA and trim trail open for the local community and that this has been achieved in time to use over the rest of the summer holidays! I would really like to thank everyone in the community and our Friends of Springfield Park for their patience. It is the start of lots of work you will see being completed over the next few months as we hand the park back.”
John Grinnell, Deputy Chief Executive at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust
This is the latest in our continued efforts to deliver a world class park back the local community and represents a significant step forward in providing a safe, fun place for children and young people to play.
We are delighted that the MUGA is now officially open and is ready to be enjoyed by all!
