Jordyn Carroll: a trailblazer
Jordyn is a Speech-Language Pathologist and a fierce advocate for Black and other= marginalized communities in the field of Speech and Language Therapy. Currently based in Atlanta, the United States of America, she specializes in culturally-responsive therapy, advocacy, and is the sole owner of JRCtheSLP, LLC.
Jordyn is a proud alumna of Howard University, where she received her M.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She earned her B.A. in Communicative Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Education from the University of Redlands. Jordyn is currently licensed in Georgia, California, Oregon, and Washington, D.C., and provides services virtually full time.
Jordyn uses her social media platform, @JRC_theSLP, to continue identifying the gaps in DEI, push for improving and diversifying the field. Her motto is “being the person you needed when you were younger.”
Through this platform, Jordyn has sparked necessary discussions and inspired others to do the same. She has been a guest speaker and presenter for countless schools, organizations, and events. She is the facilitator of the course”Confronting Anti-Black Racism in CSD”, host of the podcast Views From The 8%, and co-creator of the one-of-a kind event: The SLP Social Seen. She also uses her platform to share the spotlight with other members with similar goals for DEI and culturally – responsive therapy.
Her passion for cultural responsiveness inspires me to learn and do better. She makes me want to be a better therapist and a better person.
