Alder Hey welcomes the publication of the Lord Mann Review on antisemitism and other forms of racism in the NHS and the national response from the Department of Health and Social Care and NHS England.
The Lord Mann Review is a major independent investigation into antisemitism and other forms of racism within the UK’s National Health Service (NHS). Commissioned by the government, the review outlines widespread, systemic discrimination affecting both staff and patients, and sets out strict recommendations to eradicate racial and religious hatred.
At Alder Hey, we are unequivocal: antisemitism will not be tolerated in any form. We stand firmly against antisemitism and all forms of racism, discrimination and prejudice, and are committed to ensuring a safe, inclusive environment for all.
We are already aligned with many of the report’s recommendations through our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion work, including our anti-racism commitments, staff networks, Freedom to Speak Up arrangements and leadership development programmes. However, we recognise there is more to do. We will strengthen our focus on tackling antisemitism explicitly, working with colleagues, communities and national partners to ensure our approach is informed by lived experience and best practice.
We remain committed to taking decisive action wherever discrimination occurs, and to ensuring that our staff, children, young people and their families feel safe, valued and respected.
