Each June, communities around the world come together to celebrate Pride – a vibrant recognition of LGBTQIA+ identity, history, and culture.
Although Pride Month is rooted in June, events and activities often take place throughout the summer, celebrating inclusion, equality and diversity.
Pride became an annual tradition following the Stonewall Riots in 1969, a pivotal moment in the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights, leading to changed gay rights for a lot of people in America and around the world.
Acknowledging Pride is an important part of showing our support for the LGBTQIA+ community, celebrating diversity, and recognising the challenges that many still face today. At Alder Hey, we remain committed to being an inclusive, welcoming, and supportive organisation for all LGBTQIA+ staff, children, young people and their families.
We’ll also be joining other local NHS trusts to march as One NHS at Liverpool Pride Parade on Saturday, 25th July. Organised by LCR Pride Foundation and Sahir House, the Parade features thousands of people marching through Liverpool city centre.
