On Wednesday 5th July, Alder Hey colleagues and friends celebrated the 75th birthday of the NHS with a host of activities.
There was a wonderful singing performance from 14 year old Esther, who is the sister of Grace, a renal patient here at Alder Hey. The fantastic Katumba were also on hand to provide some musical entertainment in our atrium with their drumming band.
There was a cake baking competition for our Alder Hey colleagues with some brilliant prizes for those who got involved and impressed the judges, as well as an ice cream van for those who prefer a colder treat!
Liverpool fans were also offered a very special chance to get a picture with the Champions League trophy as the club brought it along on their very own bus.
Tony Snell from BBC Radio Merseyside was broadcasting live from our hospital on the day and spoke to numerous colleagues about their experiences of working in the NHS.
We’d like to thank everyone who helped us to make the day a truly memorable one for the Alder Hey Family!
