I have always worked in healthcare, starting as a Healthcare Assistant at 18, later progressing to a Radiology Assistant, and then applying to university to become a Radiographer. While at university I worked in a brewery! â¯
Briefly describe a typical day in your job role (tasks carried out)â¯
â¯X-raying patients, both in department and on the wards/ICU, X-raying in theatre while the patient is asleep, so surgeons can plan where they are going to put metal work to fix broken bones, live video x-ray (fluoroscopy) using a special dye that shows up on the picture.
Have you had any special training/completed any qualifications?â¯â¯
Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic radiography, and I am currently undertaking a post graduate certificate in postmortem imaging.
