We always encourage you to come to your appointment if you can. We understand that it isn’t always possible. If you’re unable to make it, please let us know as soon as you can so we can offer the time slot to another patient.
The easiest way to cancel an appointment that is more than 3 days away is to use Alder Connect (Alder Hey’s patient portal). In Alder Connect, choose one of the options below.
Option 1: Cancel and re-book
Your appointment will be cancelled straight away, and you will be added back to the waiting list. A new appointment will be made in line with the current clinical priority and waiting times for the service.
Please be aware that if this is a second cancellation, a clinician will review the patient record to confirm whether another appointment should be offered. If we need to discuss this with you, we will contact you directly.
Option 2: Cancel and discharge
Your appointment will be cancelled straight away. No further appointments will be made until the patient record has been reviewed by a clinician. If the clinician does not agree with discharge, we will contact you directly to confirm the next steps.
Need to cancel within the next 3 days or you do not have access to the portal? Please call the Booking and Scheduling Department on 0151 228 4811 and select option 3. Opening hours: 8.30am–5.00pm, Monday to Friday.
Missed appointments
Did you know that non-attendance at Alder Hey cost an average £200. It can also lead to longer waits for other children and young people. Please help us by letting us know as early as you can if your appointment is no longer needed.
