At this time of year, our A&E experiences extremely high levels of attendance due in part to rising cases of the flu.
However, for a lot of people, A&E isn’t the right place and this causes long unnecessary waits. This winter, we’re encouraging parents to consider the options before coming to A&E.
There are multiple tools to help you do this, such as NHS 111 and our online symptom checker, which can help guide you to appropriate service based on your child’s condition.
The flu vaccine is offered to children ages 2-3 years, school-aged children (up to 11 years old) and children with long-term health conditions.
