Support for You and Your Baby
Our team is here to offer additional help for unsettled babies with feeding issues.
Our Team
Our multidisciplinary team includes three infant feeding specialists with backgrounds in children’s nursing, midwifery, adult nursing, and health visiting, as well as a paediatric consultant and a community paediatric dietitian.
What We Offer
We provide support for the following conditions:
- Suspected non-IgE mediated cow’s milk protein allergy (CMPA)
- Reflux
- Infantile Colic
- Unsettled or excessively crying babies
Referral Criteria
Referrals are accepted if:
- The infant is under 6 months old at the time of referral
- The infant is registered with a Liverpool GP
- Referral is made by a GP, health visitor, midwife, or Alder Hey clinician
Referrals are not accepted if:
- There is a likely IgE-mediated CMPA
- The infant was born before 34 weeks gestation
- There is a history of faltering growth or known co-morbidities
Clinic Locations
We run clinics based at Alder Hey Hospital and hold clinics in Children Centres to make access to our services more convenient for patients.

If you are concerned about your baby’s feeding or behaviour, speak to your GP, health visitor, or midwife for a referral to our service.
If you have any questions about an appointment or have to cancel, please contact our Pathway Coordinator, Ciara O’Shea, by calling 0151 228 4811 ext. 4432. Working ours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm.

If your child is an inpatient and requires support regarding infant feeding, please ask your nurse to be referred to the inpatient infant feeding team.
