My name is Jill, I have been qualified as a radiographer for 25 years after obtaining a BSC honours diagnostic radiography degree from Sheffield Hallam university. I have worked at Alder Hey children’s Hospital as a band 6 senior radiographer for the past 24 years.
I work in a wide range of imaging modalities, including plain film, dental radiography, intra-operative theatre imaging, and fluoroscopy. I work as part of a skilled team in specialist musculoskeletal imaging using the EOS system, which enables us to provide fast, low-dose, high-quality images. This cutting-edge technology plays a vital role in supporting surgical planning and management for our patients.
As a member of several multidisciplinary teams, I am also involved in cardiac angiography, hybrid theatre imaging, and interventional imaging. My collaborative work with these teams helps to ensure coordinated and efficient care, enhancing both patient outcomes and the overall patient experience.
With a strong background in paediatric imaging, I take great pride in creating a relaxed and comfortable environment for children during their procedures. I understand that children may feel anxious, and I am skilled in using techniques that make them feel at ease while delivering high-quality, low dose imaging. My approach focuses on adapting imaging techniques to meet each child’s individual needs, ensuring the best possible outcomes with minimal discomfort.
I have developed strong communication skills and I aim to make every patient feel heard, respected, and valued, providing a friendly, professional service that supports both their clinical and emotional well-being.
