Eaton Road

Some great choices for cheap, easy meals. Eaton Road has a selection of cafes and sandwich shops, as well as a Chinese takeaway and restaurant.

There’s also a pharmacy, newsagent with a cash machine (although it will charge you, and there’s a free machine on the ground floor of the hospital) and florist.

Supermarkets and Petrol

Sainsbury’s (L14 5PT) is across the road from the East Prescot Road entrance and has an in-store cafe, pharmacy, petrol station and a range of clothing.

Aldi and Tesco are also nearby, and the Old Swan area has a number of different shops..

Other services on our doorstep

East Prescot Road is home to newsagents, car repair garage and car hire business, as well as a Wynsors World of Shoes and Indian takeaway. As you head past Sainsbury’s towards Queens Drive, you’ll find some other takeaway food options and a Post Office.

Local parks

Alder Hey is built in Springfield Park, but there is plenty of other green space nearby. Croxteth Park and the National Wildflower Centre are both around two miles away.

City centre

We’re about five miles from Liverpool City Centre, easily accessible by car or taxi. There’s a taxi rank close to the Eaton Road hospital entrance or you can use the free phone in the Emergency Department or at the Alder Road entrance to call Blueline, a private hire firm.

Buses run frequently and you can get timetables here.

Cycle route

The Transpennine Trail (National Cycle Route 81) from Southport in Merseyside to Hull in Yorkshire passes close by the perimeter of the Trust.

We have cycle parking facilities located by Ward E1, a short distance from the Tin Man Roundabout.
