28th April 2018

We wish to express our heartfelt sympathy and condolences to Alfie’s family at this extremely distressing time.

All of us feel deeply for Alfie, Kate, Tom and his whole family and our thoughts are with them.

This has been a devastating journey for them and we would ask that their privacy and the privacy of staff at Alder Hey is respected.

  • Thoughts are with you Tom and Kate rest in peace Alfie

  • I would like to say that I have no doubt about the dedication, sincerity and immense commitment that all of your team, from top to bottom will have had in treating and looking after Alfie.

My family have direct personal experience of similar situations at Bristol Childrens Hospital. In January we lost the 4 month Daughter of a Foster Child in tragic circumstances and Mum and I had to make that unbelievable decision to turn off her life support. We were present. The staff were magnificent.

We also have a beautiful grand-daughter who is 4 years 6 months old with MLD and for whom the most wonderful support is given from the NHS and many professionals at all levels.

You are all very dear to our hearts wherever you are and I am so sorry that there has been such a circus surrounding Alfie.

Finally our hearts go out to Alfie’s parents who are so young and have been through so much.

    Thank you all.
