Ronald McDonald House celebrates its 25th birthday
Ronald McDonald house, based at Alder Hey, celebrates its 25th Anniversary today and we’d like to say a huge “Happy Birthday” from all of us!
The independent Liverpool charity opened its doors back in 1993 and has since accommodated more than 32,000 families with ill children at our hospital.
Known fondly as “Mac House”, it has been extended twice since its opening and can now accommodate up to 84 families at any one time, offering practical and emotional support as well as sibling group activities and group meals.
House Director Wendy Carson said: “We are delighted that for the past 25 years, ‘Mac House’ has been able to give families the chance to stay close to their children who are patients at Alder Hey.
She added: “Thanks to fundraising and donations, we are able to offer our accommodation free of charge, to take the worry away from families.”
Alder Hey Children’s Hospital would like to take the opportunity to thank Ronald McDonald House for all of the amazing support they provide to the families of our patients all year round.
