Support Young Charity Ambassador Ted on #GivingTuesday For Alder Hey
Young fundraiser and cardiac patient Ted McCaffery will launch a campaign on social media on Tuesday to raise much needed funds for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Ted’s campaign is part of new nationwide fundraising initiative #GivingTuesday.
#GivingTuesday launches in the UK for the first time on Tuesday 2nd December. It is already a popular fundraising campaign in the USA but this will be the first time it is happening in the UK. The initiative’s aim is to encourage people to do something for charity following Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Ted is asking supporters to get behind #GivingTuesday and help raise £8,000 – enough to fund a specialist critical care cot in Alder Hey’s new hospital. Specialist care cots feature electronic positioning, ensuring ultimate comfort and safety for young patients who need the highest level of medical care and monitoring on ICU. The Charity is aiming to fund 20 specialist care cots in its new hospital which is set to open next year.
Ted, who received a Pride of Britain award for is fundraising efforts for Alder Hey said: “This is a really easy way to support Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. All you have to do is post a selfie to #ShowUsYourBear or #ShowUsYouCare and make a £5 donation to Alder Hey. If we can get a lot of people to support this campaign we can help make a big difference to sick children across the North West.”
Alder Hey Children’s Charity is aiming to raise £30m for the new hospital to fund lifesaving equipment, vital research and arts and play activities. Alder Hey treats over 275,000 children and young people from across the UK every year and charitable funds will ensure its new hospital will be one of the very best in the world.
Cath Harding, Head of Community Fundraising at Alder Hey Children’s Charity said: “Ted is a Young Ambassador of our appeal and we are incredibly grateful to him for his support. Specialist care cots are an example of the leading edge equipment we can provide for the new hospital using charitable funding. Please support Ted’s campaign on Tuesday and donate to Alder Hey; a £5 donation can make a massive difference to our patients and families.”
