Physiotherapy - in the hospital

physio picWe have experienced children’s physiotherapists, many of whom have specialised in different areas including respiratory, neurology, orthopaedics, hydrotherapy, outpatients, chronic pain, burns and plastics.

Many of our physiotherapists are members of specialist interest groups and have developed extended roles. We strive to deliver the best practice for our patients and families and keep ourselves up to date with the latest research and guidelines.

We have the first state of the art physiotherapy department that has been sponsored by the Andrew Flintoff foundation. It has a large gym, outpatient area, hydrotherapy pool and treatment rooms and has been used as the blue print for children’s physiotherapy departments around the country. Please see our virtual tour.

We work closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team, community teams and physiotherapy teams throughout the UK particularly in the North West. We will communicate with local teams when the child is transferred to a different hospital or goes home.

We also are a leading centre in teaching and training, for national and international courses and regularly teach undergraduate physiotherapists.

We openly welcome feedback, and would love to hear from you as we are constantly striving to improve our services for our patients and their families. Please feel free to leave comments at the bottom of this page.

Your comments and experiences

  • Following surgery to remove a brain surgery my son received excellent physiotherapy from Helen and the physio team. They gave us easy to follow exercises to do and provided fun ways for him to improve his mobility. This meant that he enjoyed his sessions and his rehabilitation was quicker. Thank you.

  • While I was admitted in the hospital I got great care from physiotherapists Jenny and Jo. They were not only considerate of my feelings but made me feel like I was in charge of how much or little I did.

  • Hope you like my picture above that’s me when I stayed in March 2014:) All the staff are lovely and have become my friends specially Dave and Sharon who I cant thank enough. xxx
