World Health Organisation, Health Promoting Hospitals
In 2008 Alder Hey became the first paediatric hospital to be an accredited as a ‘Health Promoting Hospital’ by the World Health Organisation.
There is currently no national Health Promoting Hospital network, and Alder Hey is currently registered as an individual member.
Trusts across the region formed Cheshire and Merseyside Healthy Providers Network in Summer 2012 and regularly come together to share good practice and support each other in adopting sustained and consistent approaches to health promoting strategies.
Alder Hey’s own Liz Grady is vice chair of the group, and has played a vital role in helping other organisations become accredited by the World Health Organisation as a Health Promoting Hospitals. Since the group was formed Mersey Care has successfully achieved accreditation. In 2013/2014 we aim to support other organisation across the Cheshire and Merseyside area to do the same.
The Cheshire and Merseyside Healthy Providers Network produces quarterly newsletters to inform all organisations of activity taking place.
