Coleen Rooney throws her support behind Alder Hey
Alder Hey Children’s Charity is delighted to announce that Celebrity Patron Coleen Rooney will front this year’s Clothes Throw event. The stylish fundraiser, which has so far raised over £130,000 for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, will once again be sponsored by fashion brand Littlewoods.
The Clothes Throw is a stylish and fun way to raise much needed funds for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Originally started by mum Helen Ainscough whose daughter Molly was treated at Alder Hey for meninigitis, the Clothes Throw is now in its fifth year. Helen, who is co-owner of the Racquet Club which will host November’s live auction said: “We will always be utterly indebted for what the team at Alder Hey did for Molly. This is our way of giving something back.”
Celebrities, designers and retailers donate clothes and accessories, giving the public a chance to add some exciting bargains to their wardrobes. Celebrities involved in the Clothes Throw 2013 include Michael Buble, Twiggy, Nicola Roberts and Kate Moss. The majority of the celebrity donations will be auctioned online between October 29th and November 30th and the first lot of items is now available to bid on!
A selection of prestigious items, such as Kate Moss’s bag and Coleen’s donations, will be auctioned on a catwalk with models kindly provided by Impact at ‘The Clothes Throw Live Auction’ flagship event on 15th November in the Racquet Club, Liverpool.
Alder Hey is set to open a new hospital in 2015 and Alder Hey Children’s Charity launched a £30m appeal on the 14th October. All the money raised for the Clothes Throw will go towards this appeal which is aiming to fund state of the art life saving equipment, arts and play activities and vital research.
Coleen, who has lent her support to Alder Hey many times in the past, said: “I am delighted to support the Clothes Throw 2013 and help raise vital funds for Alder Hey’s brand new hospital. I’ve seen firsthand the fantastic care Alder Hey provides and I know how important the new hospital will be for patients and families when it opens in 2015. Alder Hey Children’s Charity needs your help to provide the best possible experience for patients in the new hospital, along with lifesaving equipment and groundbreaking research. I hope as many people as possible will get involved in this year’s event – together we can make a real difference to the lives of children and young people at Alder Hey.”
As a close supporter of Alder Hey for many years, Littlewoods are the perfect partner for this event. Gary Kibble, Retail Brand Director at Littlewoods said: “We are delighted and honoured to be supporting The Clothes Throw 2013. As a leading online retailer, Littlewoods.com recognises the importance of supporting local charities and we are proud of our long-standing relationship with Alder Hey. The Clothes Throw is a fantastic campaign that will help raise much needed funds for Alder Hey’s new hospital, ‘Alder Hey in the Park’. Littlewoods.com supported the campaign last year and it was incredibly humbling to see first-hand just how hard the team at Alder Hey work and what a difference their fundraising makes to the hospital, especially its patients and their families. I hope this years’ campaign is an even bigger success.”
