Alder Hey Candle Service to Remember Children
A service of remembrance for children is to be held in Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral on Thursday 12th December. The service is an annual event organised by volunteers and staff from the Alder Centre at Alder Hey Hospital, which offers support to anyone affected by the death of a child, of any age and at any time.
During the service children’s names will be read out and candles lit in memory of them; participants in the service will include parents and siblings personally affected by child loss. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Shelagh Hatton, Senior Counsellor at the Alder Centre, said: “The build-up to Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for many families who have lost a child. The service gives them an opportunity for remembrance and reflection in the company of others who have experienced a similar loss.”
This year’s service will take place on Thursday 12th December at 7.30pm. Families who would like a child’s name to be included in the service should arrive early to register. For more information please contact the Alder Centre on 0151 252 5391.
