Investing in Children

Investing in Children logoHello, my name is Cheryl and I work for an organisation called Investing in Children. Investing in Children is working with Alder Hey to improve the experiences of children and young people who come to the hospital or have care at home.

We are asking children and young people to come up with good ideas about what they think could be done to improve the services they use.

Everybody’s idea’s will be listened to, treated with respect and taken seriously.

Then staff from Alder Hey will meet with children and young people to listen to their ideas and work together to make them happen.

What is Investing in Children?
Investing in Children is an organisation that promotes children’s and young people’s rights. Investing in Children believes that children and young people are experts in their own lives.

What does it do?
Investing in Children brings children and young people together to express their views on issues that are important to them based on their own experiences.

Investing in Children supports children and young people to say what they want to say, and help improve services used by them, by discussing their ideas with the adults who run the services

Investing in Children membership
Alder Hey wants wards and departments to be awarded Investing in Children membership. This will only happen if:

It’s the children and young people who decide whether membership is given.

Why is Alder Hey doing this?
Alder Hey wants to provide the best experience for children and young people who use its services. This is one way of making sure that children and young people’s views are being listened to and acted upon.
