5 Easy Ways You Can Do Something Remarkable In 2014

Start 2014 in style - pledge to do something remarkable for Alder Hey!The chances are that not so long ago you made some New Year resolutions. How are you getting on?

We’re now into the second full week of 2014 and like many of us, you might be realising how tough a resolution can be to keep! But have no fear – we’ve put together six ways you can achieve something remarkable for yourself in 2014, and support Alder Hey at the same time.

So then, here we go…

5. The challenge of a lifetime! Trek the Great Wall of China

Okay, we admit it – it’s a big one to start with! But this promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for anybody who takes on this challenge for Alder Hey Children’s Charity.

Download a brochure or book onto our event information evening on our challenge page.

4. Make sure you’re seeing all our updates, photos and videos

Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube for all our latest updatesThis IS an easy one…if you’re not already following us on Facebook, Twitter or YouTube click the links at the top right of this article and at the very bottom of this page. Give us a follow and say hello!

And to really make sure we keep you in the loop, sign up for our email alerts.

3. Keep focused on keeping fit: how you can actually do it…

A secret to making sure you stay on track here is to keep realistic. Nobody wants to start living at the gym!

Set an achievable goal. If you’re new to running, chances are you won’t do a marathon this year. But you could definitely find a shorter event and run it for Alder Hey. Sponsorship will help to keep you focused on your training and we’ll give you a special Alder Hey t-shirt or vest, as well as all the support you need.

If you’re an experienced runner, the ballot for the 2014 Great North Run is now open, as are entries to the Liverpool half marathon in March.

But if running isn’t for you, take a look at some other events that’ll keep you fit!

2. Support Alder Hey Children’s Charity a different way

Cake sales, sweepstakes and karaoke nights – they’re all in our A-Z of fundraising ideas! Or why not adopt Alder Hey as your chosen charity where you work?

1. Donate £2 a month or whatever you can afford, and you’ll be doing something remarkable to make Alder Hey in the Park a truly world-leading place

You’ll know by now that we’re building a fantastic new hospital opening next year. We’ve got an urgent, once in a lifetime opportunity to raise £30m to make it extra-special.

Why do we need the money?

The NHS can afford to build the hospital but we want to include amazing family facilities, give patients access to world-class technology and keep breaking boundaries with arts. We want to buy a higher specification of medical equipment and fund more vital research.

We simply can’t do any of this without your help. Please will you make a small, regular donation and help us build something remarkable for our young patients and their families?

Or, if you can’t give regularly you can also make a single donation here – each and every contribution means we can do more for young people across the country.

And that’s it! Thanks for reading and we hope we’ve inspired you. From all of us at Alder Hey, have a remarkable 2014!
